Berkeley High School Class of 1977 Reunion FAQ

General

Q: Are you using a reunion planning service?

A: No. We are doing all the arrangements ourselves. Although next time we may consider it!

Q: Who is making the decisions for the reunion?

A: The reunion is being planned by the reunion committee. See the committee page for information about the members.

Q: When did the committee start planning the event?

A: The committee began meeting regularly in February 2002.

Q: Are there any teachers from BHS invited to the reunion or picnic?

A: Not specifically. We would encourage any past or present teachers to attend the events. If you know of a teacher that would like to come, let us know ... maybe they'll be given special rates (depending on if we liked them :-)

Q: Will you have a photographer taking pictures?

A: Good question .. not sure. Last time a professional photographer was hired to take group and individual pictures.

Q: Can we bring our kids to the reunion?

A: What are you joking? No. The reunion evening event is for classmates and their guests only. Leave the little rats at home.

The Reunion

Q: When is the reunion?

A: Friday, August 16th, 2002 from 6:30pm-Midnight

Q: Where is the reunion being held?

A: At H's Lordship's Restuarant in Berkeley, CA. The address can be found on the Details Page.

Q: Can I show up after dinner and avoid paying the full price?

A: Not as a general rule. Armed guards will be stationed at the entrance to protect the innocent.

Q: Is this a Black Tie affair?

A: Anyone with class will dress nicely ... however there is certainly no requirement.

Q: Why does the event costs so much money?

A: As with everything costs always rise. This will be a very fun party and worth every dime. We have checked other reunions and this cost is in-line with the others.

Q: Can I pay for the event at the door?

A: Please use advance ticket sales. Our ability to accept money at the door will be limited and you will probably experience a delay in entry. Also, the cost of the event will be $75 at the door per person. Register before July 12th for an early bird discount - only $65/person. Send your payments to:

Reunion Committee
1822 62nd Street
Berkeley, CA 94703-2703

Q: Can I help with the reunion?

A: Absolutely. We will need volunteers to help set-up the reunion decorations, regsitration, sweat-shirts, etc. Please contact one of the committee members to let them know you are interested. If you have a friend that can help that would be ok too, and maybe preferrable so that you can enjoy the evening.

Q: Do you need any donations of money or other things?

A: Yes. We can always use extra money to offset our costs and help to cover incidental expenses. Also, money left over after the reunion will be placed in an account for future activities.

Q: Can I attend the reunion even if I didn't graduate from this High School (or didnt graduate at all).

A: Absolutely. This reunion is for the BHS Class of 1977. So if you were part of that class at some time during high school you are welcome. We won't ask to see your diploma!

The Picnic

Q: Who is organizing the picnic?

A: The picnic site is being arranged by the committee. Hot Dogs and Sodas are being provided.

Q: When is the picnic?

A: The picnic will be held on Sunday, August 18 (two days after the reunion) at Lake Anza in Berkeley starting at around 11:00 am.

The Restaurant

Q: Why did you choose H's Lordships for the party?

A: By the time the reunion committee was organized there were very few sites available in the area that could accommodate a large group. Also, the price of the event was a factor as we tried to keep the cost down to insure as much participation as possible.

Q: Is there a Hotel nearby with group rates or discount for lodging?

A: Week-end discount rates are available at the Raddison Hotel, Berkeley Marina. Call 1-800-243-0625 for reservations by July 26. Mention our event.

Q: Who is responsible for the web site?

A: The web site was set up and is maintained by James Reeves as a hobby for fun. The committee has sanctioned the site as the official BHS Class of 1977 reunion web site.

Q: What information will be available on the Web after the reunion?

A: The web site will remain active for as long as it has regular traffic. There are tentative plans to post pictures and summaries of the reunion on the site following the reunion. This may be interesting to people who were unable to attend the event in person.

Q: How do I get my own email address?

A: There are a number of services that will give you a free email account that provides you an email address and storage for email messages. You only need to have access to a browser to read and send mail. Yahoo! mail and Hot Mail are two free email services that I know of.

Q: Why does my email address show up on the web site?

A: If you post a message to the guest book your email address will get picked up and used in the email summary page. Also, if your address is already publicly available on a search engine, it may also be used. For privacy reasons, submitting your email address through the registration process will not release your email address if you elect that option.
